Double Debut: Dysdamion vs Haru

Dysdamion was just a ball of energy that night. He'd barely arrived on the island when he found out that he was scheduled to debut barely a day after! He was pretty enthusiastic about the whole deal; he'd get to pay for his loans and wrestle at the same time! Who wouldn't want that? That his debut arrived so soon was something that surprised him a lot - he didn't fancy himself a famous wrestler, though at the same time, he figured he wasn't complete garbage either. The blonde figured that, all in all, he got a lucky break, so he had to make it count. The match type, however, made him slightly uneasy. A humiliation match? He wasn't quite the type to do one, and the few attempts he'd made in his career to act like a heel bore little fruit. Nevertheless, he figured that he'd be able to cough up something in the heat of the moment. It wasn't like he hadn't done this before, after all!

Despite his pep talk to himself, Dys was still a little anxious during the day of the match, although the anxiety was masked by his general energy and excitement. Still, it made him antsier than usual, so he'd been wandering around the corridors backstage to work off his excitement rather than relaxing in his designated room. He'd done his research on his opponent, one Haru Fujiwara, and he could pretty much tell this wasn't going to be some squash match for him. It probably wouldn't even be a standard one - from what he saw about Haru, the guy was good, and pretty big besides. He figured they'd be the same type of wrestler, focusing more on power type moves rather than anything else, and felt like it was a good way to prove to himself - and to the league - how much of a powerhouse he really was.

It just so happened that as he was walking around aimlessly, he happened to notice another figure in the corridor walking in his direction. As the figure got closer, he realized it was his opponent, Haru! Meeting his opponent before his match seemed a little awkward, but the blonde wasn't the type to notice or give too much stock to social cues like that. So, as the two were reasonably close, he raised his hand in greeting. "Uh, yo!" He blurted out, smiling in spite of himself.

"You're Haru, right? We've... got a match in a bit. Nice to meet you!" he said, extending his hand in as friendly a manner as possible. He didn't want his opponent to think ill of him after the match - not that he expected to win, but really, he believed he stood a fair chance - and wanted to make some friends as he was still new to the league, so he felt that getting the handshake out was necessary. Whether or not his opponent would respond in kind, however, remained to be seen.

Signing that GWA contract had definitely been the best decision Haru had made in quite a while. He'd had been on the island for a good week and half now, enjoying all the sights, sounds, and delights that the vista had to offer. Mornings in the state-of-the-art gyms, afternoons on the beach and in the waves, he'd even taken a peek at the so-called VR Arcade League they boasted about. He'd been getting a tad antsy however that the promoters hadn't booked him any matches yet, and keeping himself out of the trouble boredom usually got him into was a task in and of itself.

Suffice it to say that when he received word that they were ready for his debut, he jumped at the opportunity without even hearing the details. Tall, short, skinny, chunky, it didn't matter what kind of man they threw in the ring with him; he'd tear 'em up and knock 'em down all the same! Fast forward 24 hours and now Haru was waiting in the backstage of Rose Hall, maybe 20 minutes out from his match. He'd already changed into ring gear for the evening, black boots and tight black shorts, dark purple streaks down the sides and accented with an armband with the same color scheme. He had headphones in as well, music blaring into his ears as he psyched himself up for the event.

He ran through different scenarios in his head, cobbled together mostly from past wins and close-calls. 'Remember the mistakes, pay attention to flaws, and kick some ass!' was the bread and butter of his pre-match ritual. As he did this he'd pace and wander around mindlessly, waiting for one of the PA's to grab him when it was time. Otherwise, he'd pay little attention to the other background people working tirelessly to pull the event off.

That is, until he noticed one of those background people flag him down and start talking to them. Haru stared at the guy blankly, unable to hear anything he was saying with his headphones in, and not bothering to try reading his lips. He'd wait for the guy to finish whatever it was he was saying before he pulled one of the earbuds out. "Yeah, what was that? Didn't catch any of it" he responded with a half-grin. Now that he took a second to look the guy up and down and actually pay some attention, he had a pretty good guess who this dopey-looking mothertrucker was supposed to be.

Haru starts to extend his free hand out to Dysdamion. "Yea, I aint shaking with a nobody" he says haughtily as he quickly redirects his hand up and claps the man's cheek patronizingly. "Make an impression, and maybe you'll be worth my free time" he finishes with his grin on full display. He slides his earbud back in and continues past Dysdamion with a snicker.

---------- 10 MINUTES LATER ----------

The lights of the arena were hot and bright and baring down on the ring at full intensity. Haru walked the inside perimeter of the ring with what would soon be recognized as his signature shit-eating grin, raising his arms to the audience of Rose Hall. It was a good thing he'd been keeping up with his dieting and workup routine, because hot damn did those cut abs look good on that giant ass megascreen on the far wall.

"Comon, comon, comon! Bring this guy out already, I'm fallin' asleep out here!" he barked with laughter as he settled himself to cockily lounge on the ropes. He faced the entrance ramp with marked disinterest, even yawning to play the cocky angle up a bit more. He knew how this shit worked, it didn't matter how well he performed in the ring, it was all about branding and public image. If he could get people to love or hate him, he'd be golden and booked for ages to come!

Dysdamion's bright grin and friendly smile seemed to freeze as Haru's almost-handshake turned into a condescending pat on the cheek. Suddenly, it felt like his facial muscles had to remain in the smile, otherwise, he'd lose his cool. It irked the blonde wrestler at how the gesture seemed to be almost normal for Haru, and the notable height difference between the two wrestlers only served to grind his gears more. He beat down the sudden burst of irritation though, and the whole cheek patting and the dialogue that followed went without much of an incident. Haru might've been able to tell that the blond wrestler seemed to tense at the remarks, though. "Right. Yeah. We'll see about that later then." he grumbled loud enough for Haru to hear as he continued on his way.

The encounter, if anything else, shook what little stage jitters the blonde was feeling away, and he felt simply pumped and ready to square off against the annoyingly tall blue haired man.

---------- 10 MINUTES LATER ----------

Dysdamion was backstage as he saw Haru make his entrance, and he had to admit that the guy seemed a natural at getting the crowd up and either cheering or booing him because of his arrogant persona. "Makes sense, I guess. He's just as full of himself backstage." A small part of him hoped that he'd look as good on the big screen as Haru and his abs did, but that wasn't important right now. Giving himself a final motivational slap to his own face, he hopped up and down and stepped into the limelight as his entrance music started blaring.

The blonde wrestler stepped out with his bright grin to a cheering crowd. It seemed like, if anything else, he looked the part of a pretty boy face. He made his way down the ramp, giving high fives and smiles to the audience as he went. One particularly enthusiastic fan had asked for a picture with the blonde, who responded with a wink. "Wait 'till I win, then I can celebrate." he said confidently as he disengaged from the fans and hopped into the ring. So far, so good.

Then he turned towards his opponent and his smile turned a lot more forced. "Alright man, you wanted me to make an impression? I'll leave that impression all over that pretty face of yours." he taunted good-naturedly enough, taking his place in the corner as the referee checked him out as well. Once that was done, he walked to the center of the ring, gave a thumbs up to the ref, and looked at Haru. "Let's do this!" he yelled as the bell rang, and he'd take a stance. It was a generic grappling stance, and he seemed to be inviting Haru for a lock-up, wanting to test just how much power the other had.

Haru had to laugh when an overeager fan asked Dysdamion for a photo-op before they'd even begun. The derpy looking expression he put on was just too much for him to take seriously, he just had to openly laugh. Someone was real cocky about their success here, weren't they? Of course the same thing might be said about Haru, but at least he knew that he had the skills to back himself up on it.

"I was hoping for something more than....whatever you thought that was..." he snickers as Dysdamion mouths off to him with a bit of pre-match banter. Looked like the blonde had taken the back-stage interaction to heart, that was good, meant he'd put up more of a fight before he got demolished.

Haru took his place opposite Dysdamion and was similarly cleared by the referee. He didn't respond verbally to Dys's shout but he sure squared up physically. Once the bell rang and the match officially started, Haru would accept the lock up and give the blonde a taste of the strength and power he'd be rumbling with. Haru didn't aim for immediate overwhelming force but instead tried to match whatever Dys was putting out, and then slowly keep turning the force up to see how long Dysdamion would last. Should he prove the stronger of the two, he'd attempt to force the blonde onto his knees and into the perfect position to receive a sharp knee thrust to the face!

Caught up in the fact that he had finally made it to the big leagues - or at least, a lot bigger than anything he'd been involved in before. All his pent up energy just seemed to let itself loose as he stared down his opponent, and he couldn't help but grin in anticipation. Honestly, he was pumped!

When Haru moved to accept the lock-up, the blond wrestler's grin grew even wider. He wasn't actually expecting most people to take the challenge; most everyone he was up against either went for another tactic completely or tried to sucker him somehow, so a head-on confrontation was right up his alley- and he'd finally get to see who was the stronger of the two. Haru honestly seemed tougher, but that didn't mean the blond was going to back down, and especially not now. Initially, he wanted to be on guard for any dirty tactics, so he really wasn't giving the lock-up too much. He paid for that though, when he suddenly began losing ground. "Wh- what the shit-" he grunted, the surprise clear in his voice. It was painfully obvious that he couldn't match Haru in strength - at least, not if he wasn't concentrating and giving it his best. Haru was steadily increasing the pressure, too. He seemed like he was on the brink of being pushed to his knees, but he took a deep breath and really poured his all into it- no thinking about possible sneak attacks or sudden knees to the groin, and he started to even it out, and possibly even make up for the ground he lost. Haru made him work for every inch though. "Not.... against.... me!" he yelled, gathering up his strength for one burst. The two were evenly matched, but if he put his back into it, he could hopefully throw him off balance, and even send him flying back.

"HAH-" he panted as he shoved Haru away, shoulders heaving. That was one of the toughest things he'd done in a while. Nevertheless, he'd proved to Haru that he was every bit as strong as he was - and maybe even then some. Caught up in the moment, and in the crowd's cheers, the blond spun on his heel and gave a raised fist, coupled with a victory whoop to set the crowd roaring even more. The new kid had spunk,and the strength to back it up too!

Of course, he was a little too carried away in his enthusiasm, to the point that he made the mistake of turning his back to his opponent. Of course, he was pretty proud of himself, and any sporting opponent would at least wait until he'd turned around again, right...?

Haru grits his teeth as his envisioned sequence of events fizzles into nothing as his opponent stops his progress and then even begins to reverse things. The intensity of both the tension in Haru's figure and the look on his face increase as he starts to lose ground, boots sliding against the canvas until finally Dysdamion breaks the lock-up and throws Haru back. The blue-haired man stumbles backwards as he swings his arms, trying to regain balance and more importantly control of the match!

Luckily for Haru, his blonde opponent was focused on trying to win favor and praise from the audience and not pressing his advantage. Tch, idiot. He even turns his back on Haru, a mistake he'd immediately come to regret. Haru stalks forward swiftly and quietly, making sure that his footfalls didn't shake the ring. Once he was close enough he'd pounce, arms shooting out and around Dysdamion's neck as he locks on a rear-naked choke.

The crowd was clearly surprised at the early appearance of this move and their noise level matched as they suddenly cheered. Haru wasn't so naive as to expect this to win him the match, but it would definitely serve to teach a quick and effective lesson to the blonde. His biceps flex as he compresses the man's neck and starts walking backwards, dragging his opponent with him to remove the benefit of having a stable standing position.
